“Fearing for his life and that of his fellow officers, an officer fired defensive shots,” the statement continued. “Medics on scene immediately rendered medical aid to the subject, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect also had 2 magazines and no identification – this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement. Approximately 200 rioters arrived on scene and began obstructing and attacking law enforcement on site, crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement. “
“This situation is evolving and more information will be available soon,” DHS said.

Tensions rise in Minneapolis
The city has been at the center of tensions between anti-ICE protesters and federal agents sent to target illegal immigrants as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to deport them from U.S. soil. The situation is still in turmoil following the shooting of Renee Good, an activist who was shot and killed by an ICE agent she struck with his vehicle.
Democrats blasted the ICE agent’s actions and protesters became more aggressive in attempting to interfere with ICE and Border Patrol operations in the city. Several Democratic officials, including Gov. Tim Walz, Mayor Jacob Frey and Attorney General Keith Ellison, defended the protesters.
This most recent incident could spark more controversy as camps are already forming online. Activists on the left call it another “murder,” while voices on the right point to DHS’s assertion that a gun was used to justify the shooting.
