Boston Celtics alum, broadcaster Brian Scalabrine added to national NBC, Peacock coverage
Former Boston Celtics big man and current Boston broadcaster Brian Scalabrine has been added to NBC Sports and Peacock coverage team for national NBA broadcasts, per recent reporting from the Boston Globe's Chad Finn. But fret not, the champion Celtics center is not abandoning Boston to go national. He will still be on the call with broadcast partner Drew Carter, save for a handful of contests each season.
"There might be minor overlaps here and there where I have a national assignment on the night of a Celtics game, but NBC is going to do their best not to affect much if anything locally," said Scalabrine via Finn, who noted that fellow Celtics alum and broadcaster Eddie House would likely fill on one at least some of those dates.
"From my understanding, that’s what it looks like," added Scal. "I would never leave for ESPN, but the fact that it’s NBC is a massive, massive plus for me. I have a lot of respect for the way that NBC Sports Boston treats me, and I’m loving the stuff that they’re talking about doing at the big network, so I’m just really excited about the whole opportunity."
