Trump urges his supporters to boycott Bruce Springsteen concert tour
President Trump on Thursday urged his supporters to boycott Bruce Springsteen’s concert tour after the singer ripped the Trump administration and called America a “reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation” during a concert in Minneapolis.
“Bad and very boring singer Bruce Springsteen, who looks like a dried prune who suffered greatly from the work of a very bad plastic surgeon, has long suffered from a terrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes called TDS,” Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social.
“This guy is a total loser spewing hatred against a president who won a landslide election, including the popular vote, all seven swing states and 86% of the counties in America,” Mr. Trump wrote. “MAGA should boycott their overpriced concerns, which suck. Save your hard-earned money.”
Mr. Springsteen took the stage Tuesday night in Minneapolis and delivered a scathing message about the state of America and the Trump administration. On the opening night of his “Land of Hope and Dreams” US tour, the singer delivered four political speeches.
Critics accused him of being anti-American, with some on social media calling him a “traitor.”
“We are going through dark times,” Mr. Springsteen told the crowd, according to Variety. “Our American values that have sustained us for 250 years are being challenged like never before. The lives of our young men and women are in danger in an unconstitutional and illegal war. It’s happening now.”
“Immigrants are being held in detention centers across the country and deported without due process to foreign countries and foreign gulags. This is happening now,” he said.
Mr. Springsteen then lambasted Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department before directing his comments at the White House and Mr. Trump.
“While American workers struggle, our president and his family are enriching themselves by trading billions of dollars with the people’s office in corruption unprecedented in American history. It’s happening now,” he said.
“This White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world,” Mr. Springsteen said.
“For many, we are no longer seen as the often flawed but strong defender of democracy that defends the global good. We are no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are now, for many, America the reckless, unpredictable, predatory, rogue nation. That is the legacy of this administration and this president. It is happening now,” he said.
Some on social media lambasted Mr. Springsteen, questioning how he could charge up to $800 for tickets and then portray himself as a representative of the American working class, while others called him “self-righteous” and a “traitor.”
Others praised him for his convictions and his courage in calling out the administration.
