After an extended free agency last winter, Pete Alonso finally signed a two -year agreement with the New York dishes. However, his agreement allows him to become a free agent this offseason by refusing the option of his player.
Alonso would be likely to withdraw after setting up a stellar season. Unlike the last off -season, he should have more suitors ready to give him the long -term agreement he hoped for. His power has always been there, but this year, he has proven that this is not all what he has to count on.
Alonso will be one of the biggest names on the market, and Christopher Kline de Fandeded predicted that he would leave the dishes this winter.

“The polar bear is loved in Queens and it is difficult to imagine it in a different uniform, but David Stearns of Bend analysis, and Alonso does not correspond to the profile of the players he historically tends to prioritize,” wrote Kline. “If there was a market for last winter, Alonso would probably have found a new house. After another excellent regular season, it seems that Alonso should enter a healthier market this landmark. It has a player option of 24 million dollars, but it should be willing to sacrifice a little 2026 compensation if it means more security in the years.”
During 139 games, Alonso has an OPS of .867 and increased its 28 -point stick from last season. The dishes do not hesitate to spend, but they may simply not want to spend on Alonso, who is already 30 years old.
“But these are the dishes we are talking about, so Steve Cohen should gladly spend money on a younger replacement, perhaps with a little more defensive value,” wrote Kline. “As such, there is a real possibility that Alonso takes up and leaves in a few months. He cannot feel too desired after the way his last free agency saga took place. If the market stalls will be found again, he will find himself in a similar offer, but if there is an interest outside New York, he will say goodbye.”
Alonso is not an easy -to -replace player. Losing it would be a blow for the team’s attack, and his departure would be a punch for the base of the fans.
