The Denver Broncos have one of the most complete teams in the NFL, but there might finally be room for one particular move before the start of the 2026 season.

There has been talk for a long time about the Broncos signing Calais Campbell and it still makes sense. With Campbell being an unrestricted free agent and likely looking for the right place to call up, no place is a better fit than Mile High City.
The move has been talked about for a long time, mainly because Campbell was born in Denver and attended high school there. A second-round pick in 2008, Campbell played for five teams during his 18-year career and is coming off a second stint with the team that drafted him, the Arizona Cardinals.
Campbell turns 40 in September, which is the main reason most people who scoff at the idea will, but he’s never shown any signs of slowing down. That includes playing in every game for the Cardinals last season and having 6.5 sacks.
Calais Campbell makes sense for the Broncos in 2026
The Broncos lost John Franklin-Myers in free agency as the Tennessee Titans offered him a healthy deal. The team isn’t going to spend to add a big-name replacement, so they’ll look to guys like Sai’vion Jones and Eyioma Uwazurike to fill that void.

But Campbell, on a one-year deal, could be a much better option.
Campbell not only can still pressure the quarterback, but he can also defend the run. Even at almost 40 years old, he can still stay on the field for all three Tests and make an impact. He’s also a true iron man, having only missed 15 of a possible 293 regular season games in his career. It’s remarkable.
It wouldn’t be hard to convince him to come to Denver either. The team is a top contender and this is their hometown. This is always a great combination during negotiations.
