Pulling 27-26 with less than two minutes in the fourth quarter, Mayfield led the charge to put the Buccaneers online for a last second victory. The Botter Chase McLaughlin struck him, giving Tampa Bay a 3-0 file.
After the victory, Mayfield was asked what he felt, and he apparently took a chance of many people involved in the organization of the New York Jets. One of these people was the former coach of the Panthers of Caroline Steve Wilks.
“Their D-Coordinator (Steve Wilks) was the one who cut me in Caroline. Many things were personal today. Haason Reddick. Former jet. Many people,” said Mayfield about victory.
Mayfield made it a duty to say that Wilks was the coach who cut him when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers. The Quarterrière has also decided to mention Haason Reddick and the other “people” that he apparently enjoyed beating.

Mayfield is not afraid to say what he thought, and it was fully exposed after the big victory against the jets.
Since the arrival of Mayfield in Tampa Bay, he has rebounded his career importantly. He was considered a quarter-back companion, bouncing between three teams before landing with the Buccaneers.
Mayfield led a spectacular 2024 season, where he launched 4,500 yards, 41 affected and 16 interceptions. Now he is already on fire in 2025.
Mayfield obtained 382 yards and five affected in three weeks, and the Buccaneers continue to present a set of skills that can take them far in the playoffs. The problem is that the team is also faced with significant injuries that could derail their season.
Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs remain extinguished, and Mike Evans seemed to have suffered an injury to the hamstrings during week 3. Godwin and Wirfs are about to come back, but Evans could now be absent for a while if the hamstiff injury he has undergone is important.
Even with the montage of injuries, Mayfield and Company continue to come together to win large victories. At 3-0, the Buccaneers will face the Eagles of Philadelphia in a massive match of week 4.
