Bullet fired at Chiefs stadium reportedly missed coach Andy Reid by just 15ft | Kansas City Chiefs
A bullet was fired in the office of the Kansas City chiefing coach Andy Reid, at the team’s training center last spring while he was inside, Kansas City star reported on Wednesday.
The star, citing several sources, reported that Reid was working alone in his office at the beginning of May 2024 when a ball from the outside of the building crossed the glass and left a hole in the window and the blinds. He finally granted 15 feet from the place where Reid was seated, in a wall between his bathroom and the door of his office. The chiefs installed a bulletproof glass shortly after.
The star pointed out that two other balls struck the installation, with a strike on the third floor and another an outdoor air air conditioning unit. Few people in the organization knew the incident.
A chiefing spokesperson refused to comment on Wednesday evening. Reid’s next availability of media should be Friday evening after Kansas City’s home game against the Bears in Chicago, the last pre-season match of the two teams.
No arrest was made and no charge has been filed, although the police treat the incident as aggravated assault.
“Nothing indicates that it was a targeted incident in anyone or organization,” said spokesperson for the Kansas City police department, Captain Jacob Becchina, to the star. “Because the building was occupied at the time of the ball that passes through the window, the case is the subject of an investigation as a serious assault.”
Reid has conducted the Chiefs with three Super Bowl titles since the 2019 season, with the latest arrival at the end of the 2023 season. Kansas City lost their offer for a three peat when they lost against the Philadelphia Eagles in the February Super Bowl.
With his three rings, the winner of the year’s coach of the 2002 AP won 273 career victories, fourth of all time and in mind among active coaches. He trained the Philadelphia Eagles for 14 seasons before joining the chiefs before the 2013 season.
