Mystics rookie found out she was an All-Star in wild way

Sonia Lemon did not expect to be named Wnba All-Star in her recruit season.
“I was really surprised,” lemon told SB Nation on Monday. “It’s not something I really thought of happening, especially this year. So, certainly very shocked. I don’t think it really strikes me. ”
The overall choice n ° 3 had a superb recruit season in Washington – it has an average of 14.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists, while pulling 45.5% in the field and 36.3% out of three. Following his draw, Lemon was also one of the five WNBA players selected to participate in the three -point competition on Friday.

Lemon did not discover that she would be named a star in the usual way. The recruit of Washington Mystics received an Instagram DM from the Seattle Storm Gabby Williams striker, who had wrongly received a call from Cathy Engelbert who was intended for Lemon.
The 21 -year -old took this incident in stride.
“It was really different, but it’s a cool story to tell, and it’s a unique way to discover it,” said Lemon.
Lemon attributes the heavy offensive of the mystics for adapting his style of play, allowing him to even go beyond his own expectations.
“I don’t really think I had expectations this year,” said Lemon. “I just wanted to kiss everything that was going to happen to me, and knowing that there will be ups and downs, I really wanted to help my team win in all possible ways, so I wouldn’t really say that I had personal goals, in addition to kissing everything, trying to improve every day and just be a good asset for the team.”

The mystics have won three consecutive games and currently have a 11-10 sheet – and Lemon wants to see them are part of the action in the playoffs. Currently, it’s good for the 7th seeded in total, although the Las Vegas Aces (currently in 9th place) are just a game.
“The only goal I have for the team is right to make the playoffs and try to continue winning matches,” she said.
Individually, there are no specific aspects of the improvement on which it is particularly focused: “If I can say that I am a better player at the end of the year than when I started, then I would be happy.”
