Caddo DA seeks death penalty for man accused of killing Vivian officer

The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office will seek the death penalty against Nicholas Edward Alexander.
Alexander, 58, is accused of murdering police officer Vivian Marc Brock, 25. On the evening of November 14, 2025, Brock and a fellow police officer attempted to execute an arrest warrant for cyberstalking when Alexander fired a shotgun through the front door. The shotgun blast hit Brock.
“This case involves the murder of a law enforcement officer who was carrying out his duty to protect the community,” said Prosecutor James Stewart. “Our office is committed to seeking justice for Officer Brock, his family and the community he served.”
Alexander was indicted Feb. 10 by a Caddo Parish grand jury on one count of first-degree murder and three related misdemeanor charges.
The District Attorney’s Office formally filed a notice March 10 indicating its intent to seek the death penalty against Alexander.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, under Louisiana law, murder of a peace officer is punishable by life in prison with hard labor without the possibility of parole, probation or suspended sentence or death, according to the jury’s decision.
