Caitlin Clark is 9th-ranked guard in WNBA players’ All-Star voting

Caitlin Clark is the best player in the WNBA.

At least that’s what the public seems to think. The Indiana Fever superstar received a record of 1,293,526 fans votes for the WNBA 2025 stars match.

His colleagues players, however, seem to agree. Clark ended in ninth place among the WNBA guards in the playing of the players.

Nevertheless, Clark will serve as a team captain for the July 19 event which will take place in the original arena of his team, Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This honor is determined only by the votes of the fans, with Napheesa Collier du Minnesota Lynx appointed the other captain of the team after receiving 1,176,020 votes.

Clark finished third among the guards in the vote of the media stars. Its cumulative weighted score (determined by 50% of voting to fans, the voting of players by 25% and the voting of the media by 25%) was 3.5.

This linked him to the second among the guards with Sabrina Ionescu from New York (fifth of the fans’ vote, second in the media vote, second in the voting of the players). The recruit of Dallas Wings, Paige Bueckers, received the best score weighted among the guards (3.25) after finishing second in the vote of the fans, fifth in media and fourth voting of the players.

Although Clark’s classification in the players’ survey may seem shocking, a certain perspective may be necessary. Each WNBA player receives an All-Star ballot on which he is authorized to vote for up to four guards and six players in the front area.

This means that no one wrote on a ballot – or even had the opportunity to do so – that Clark is the ninth best guard in the league; Instead, it was excluded from the first four of the players so that its cumulative score was the ninth higher among the guards.

In addition, we do not know how many players even voted or how those who took the question have taken seriously.

However, some people have taken the results of the player’s vote as proof of the current story that many WNBA players are jealous of Clark and the credit she often receives for the enormous increase in the popularity of the league in the last two seasons.

“The absolutely pure jealousy that @WNBA players elected Caitlin Clark the 9th best guard,” wrote the legendary basketball advertiser Dick Vitale on X. “One day, they will realize what she did for all WNBA players. Graphic planes – an increase in wages has requested crowds – improved television notes.”

Vitale added in another article: “Without a doubt, it is the best – something that happens to the WNBA.”

The former quarter-back of the NFL and current sports commentator Robert Griffin III wrote a long post on X on the issue.

“The players are supposed to do well that fans and the media because they know what it takes and what it looks like,” wrote Griffin. “All WNBA players are not to be blamed and not all hate or are not jealous of Caitlin Clark. But the players who voted their bottom were wrong in this case and some WNBA players leave their jealous of Caitlin Clark to hindle out for the whole WNBA.”

Clark struggled with injuries during his second WNBA season, after retaining five games due to a left quadriceps tension and the last two Indiana games due to the groin tension. She will also miss the fever match against the lynx in the commissioner’s cup final on Tuesday evening.

After playing in nine games so far in 2025, Clark has an average of 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.9 assists with a turnover of 5.9.

The 10 best guards and the 10 best players in the front area in weighted scores were announced on Monday as well as stars. The Sparks goalkeeper, Kelsey Plum, cup after finishing sixth in the voting of the fans, sixth in the media vote and 16th in the voting of the players. The longtime rival of Clark on the ground, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, will start in the area before having finished fifth in the vote of the fans, 12th in the vote of the media and 12th of the voting of the players.

Clark and Collier will write their teams of respective stars of this group of beginners plus 13 reserves which will be chosen by the WNBA coaches and announced on Sunday.
