Calabasas pulled off a huge high school basketball win Tuesday night, handing Thousand Oaks its first loss after 16 wins in the Marmonte League opener.

The Coyotes (13-5) have quietly turned their season around after a 2-4 start, winning 11 of their last 12 games.

One of the main contributors has been 6-foot-3 junior guard Johnny Thyfault, who averages 16 points and has become a fan favorite because of his dunk skills. He also leads the team in committing charging fouls.

He transferred to Calabasas after his freshman year at Viewpoint.

As for the win against Thousand Oaks, coach Jon Palarz said, “We were able to play them at home and gave a great effort.”
