California fireworks warehouse catches fire and explodes

A warehouse storing fireworks in California caught fire and exploded on Tuesday, sending a fireball in the air, launching debris and exploding the pyrotechnic above the site, according to officials and videos of the scene.

The Sheriff’s Bureau of Yolo County said that the warehouse, near the Esparto region north-west of Sacramento, exploded and actively burned.

The head of the Esparto fire protection district, Curtis Lawrence, made no comments for journalists to find out if there were injuries on Tuesday evening.

The video shows white smoke rushing from the interior of the building through the roof before a large explosion and a ball of fire, with many abrasion of fireworks.

The cause of the fire and the explosion was unknown on Tuesday evening, said the sheriff’s office.

The only warehouse fire caused several spot fires, covering an area of ​​around 80 acres in total, said Lawrence.

The Forestry and California fire protection unit and fire protection said it was responding to the commercial and plant fire in Yolo County.

The agency, known as Cal Fire, investigates the cause of the fire, but a representative of the Sheriff’s office said on Tuesday evening that there was nothing apparently criminal. Drones were used to assess damage.

Esparto is a community of around 3,000 to almost 30 miles northwest of Sacramento.
