California Republicans Aren’t Losing to Democrats — They’ve Lost to Apathy – RedState

Last electoral cycle, while striking the republican doors during my Congress campaign against Maxine Waters, three answers appeared more than others:

  1. “Are there Republicans in Los Angeles?”
  2. “California is a lost cause – I move (insert the name of Red State here).”
  3. “I hate Maxine Waters, I hope you give it a kick … But I abandoned the party of the county and the state years ago – they are good for nothing.”

The first sparked an exciting political scholarship. The second made me feel that I watched another warrior move from the battlefield. But the third?

This one stung.

And yet I understand. Many Republicans recorded in California are stuck in a state of apathy.

Voting resembles a lifeless procedure buried in spam. And even if the vast majority of Californians through the parties of the parties agree that things are not doing well, the control of the Democrats remains intact.

The crime is in place. The cost of living is increasing. The homelessness continues to increase. Public schools fail. People flee.

And always … the same people continue to re -elected themselves.

But let’s not only blame the Democrats. The Republican Party in California has a messaging problem And a delivery problem.

We don’t reach people where they are.

Although it does not give up traditional platforms, digital messaging – e -mail, social media and text – should be our front line tools. However, digital tools without the right message are ineffective. We also have to simplify and locate our message.

Most elections in California are technically non -partisan – school councils, municipal councils and special districts. This is where we should win.

We must stop nationalizing the races which are supposed to be local.

Here is an example of a message that could connect:

“How did it go for you? Instead of voting to (insert the name of the liberal opponent here) again, what would you say to try someone new? What do you lose?”

It’s simple. It is relatable. And he crosses.

Instead, we are too often stuck in our echo room – speaking to other Republicans about how bad democrats are and how great we are.

Meanwhile, independent voters and deprivation of their rights – people waiting to be invited in something different – are ignored because the GOP does not offer a convincing, local and emotionally resonant alternative.

And let’s be honest: we waste too much energy to fight between us.

It’s always the same – popular vs establishment, conservative against Rino. Rinse and repeat. We are locked in a permanent civil war while the left is steaming, leaving us only moral victories.

Incredestal victories are not enough. Too many republicans in the party apparatus treat crumbs like cake. We kill ourselves at the back to clean barely 20% in a blue neighborhood while the Democratic machine continues to get lost.

As I said before, I haven’t joined a party. I joined a fight.

And unless more of us do the same and keep waiting for someone else to repair it, stops withdrawing in the red states, stops hanging on the old titles and the lawn, we will be stuck in this state of apathy forever.
