California Woman Registered Her Dog to Vote, Mailed a Ballot in Its Name
A California woman was translated by five crime counts this month for illegally scoring her dog to vote in the 2021 and 2022 elections – then publish on Facebook a photo of her dog with a “I voted” sticker and the ballot by mail from the canine.

The woman would have made ballots on behalf of the dog “Maya Jean Yourex” during the 2021 reminder election against Governor Gavin Newsom and the primary elections of 2022. The dog’s vote was successfully counted in the recall of 2021, but was rejected in the primary of 2022, according to the prosecutors.
It was not revealed how Maya herself voted.
President Donald Trump recently repeated his persistent appeal to the abolition of voting ballots by messaging, by calling them ripe with “fraud” and “cheating” in a position last month on Truth Social.
Yourx should be brought to justice on September 9 in California court. She risks a maximum sentence of six years in state prison if she is found guilty of all the charges, prosecutors said.
Even more badly advised than the dog’s recording was that yourx would have told an election official what she had done.
According to the district prosecutor’s office:
On October 28, 2024, the Orange County District Prosecutor’s Office was contacted by the Orange County Voter Office’s clerk about a resident who has self -deprecated that she had recorded her dog to vote and had in fact dropped a ballot by mail that she sent to her dog, Maya Jean Yourx, for the Gubernatorial Reminder in 2021, the primary election of 2022.
According to the California Elections Code, in order to vote, a person must be registered as an elector by filling out and by subjecting an affidavit of registration which includes the name of the voter, the residence, the postal address, the date of birth, the preference of political parties and a certification that the voter is a citizen of the United States. Affidavit must be signed under penalty of perjury.
However, proof of residence or identification is not required for Californians to vote in state competitions, while proof of residence and registration is required for the first voters during a federal election.
“Consequently, the primary vote of 2022 in the name of Maya Jean was disputed and rejected,” said the prosecutors.
In another article in October 2024, yourx showed a photo of the Maya dog label and a vote by the legend, “May still gets his ballot” – even if the dog was already deceased, prosecutors said.
It seems that even a dead dog, with the help of a voting bulletin by messaging, can vote fraudulent in the state of California.
