California’s largest blaze this year explodes in size as hot weather raises wildfire risk statewide

Los Angeles – A forest fire in a wild area in central California has exploded in size while hot and hot weather increased the risk of fire for large parts of the state on July fourth.
Madre’s fire has become the largest fire in California so far this year, tearing the meadows after having broken out Wednesday in the south-east of the county of San Luis Obispo. He quickly reached more than 82 square miles (212 square kilometers). It was only 10% content Thursday evening.
Evacuation orders and warnings were issued for tiny communities near the road to the State 166 while the flames moved through a hilly land towards the National Monument of Carrizo Plain, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) east of Santa Maria. The region about 125 miles (200 kilometers) in the northwest of Los Angeles contains large meadows that attract visitors in the spring to see its wild flowers.
Part of Route 166 East was closed on Thursday, and there was “no estimate of the reopening,” said the California Ministry of Transport, known as Caltrans, on social networks.
The fire was pushed by summer gusts that generally increase as the sun begins to bed, said meteorologist Ryan Kittell with the National Weather Service.
“The winds are fairly light during the day, but they pick up quite much in the afternoon and evening,” said Kittell.
He said gusts could reach 40 MPH (64 km / h) later in the day Thursday, posing new challenges for firefighters working in 95 degrees (35 C).
Dozens of small forest fires burned through the state.
Southern wolf fire reached 55% confinement Thursday after having square more than 3.7 square miles (9.5 square kilometers) of dry brush since June 29 in the county of Riverside in the east of Los Angeles.
Unrelated to forest fires, a fire burned four houses in the Pacoima district before being under control Thursday evening. Fireworks exploded when the crews arrived on the scene and a woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition, Los Angeles Times reported.
