Cam Newton vs. Jalen Hurts is the stupid internet argument with only one correct answer

Take a look in the corners of Internet football and it will not take long before you came across one of the biggest arguments among the fans of the NFL at the moment: Cam Newton against Jalen Hurts. It’s everywhere, and dozens of people on Reddit, Tiktok and Instagram rush to give their two hundred.
This is a discussion that occurred while Hurts approaches Newton’s TD record for a quarter-Arrière, needing 21 to break the record while making an average of 14 per season in the past three years. These are two quarter -threats that had a major impact on the NFL during their respective careers, without necessarily having raw passage statistics which combine favorably to their peers.
It is also the most stupid argument on the face of the earth which should not even be an argument, because unless you are a Gen Z football fan who does not know Ball, Cam Newton wins this hand and twice Sunday.
There is an omnipresence of these tête-a-head arguments which seems to require a slander from one player to justify the other as the right choice. This will not happen here. The truth is that Jalen Hurts is fantastic, and the Perfect Quarterback for the Eagles. There is a huge reason why they won a super bowl and are about to be suitors for the next few years in the NFC. That said, he just’s just Cam Newton – because no one is, and they will never be.
Let’s look at the basic numbers during the first five years of each player’s career, so we can start from there.
Cam Newton statistics, first five years
1,440/2 418 (59.5%), 18,263 yards per passage, 117 td, 64 int
599 races, 3207 yards (5.3 ypa), 43 td
Jalen hurts statistics, the first five years
1,248/1 939 (64.4%), 14,667 yards per passage, 85 td, 39 int
674 races, 3,133 yards (4.6 ypa), 55 td
According to their figures, it becomes the classic argument of Big Play Vs efficiency which so often dominates discussions like this. Newton did more with the ball every time he had it in his hands, both by passing and rushing – but Hurts is a more precise smuggler, and has a better TD / INT ratio, showing that he was better to take care of the ball.
The real friction in this argument comes when we look at the teams around these players. Hurts and the Eagles, one of the best organizations managed in the NFL, with the best director general of football and an offensive line that overshadows the rest of the league. Newton, guided by three children in a trench trench, pretending to be an adult.
It is impossible to underestimate how harmful the Panthers front office was damaging to Newton’s career. He excelled in spite of themselves, not because of them. When Newton dragged Carolina in a superb berth in 2015, he had the most laughable receiver group that any Super Bowl team had had in the past 20 years: Ted Ginn Jr, Corey Brown, Jerricho Cotcherery and Devin Funchess. It was four guys who would all have trouble being 3rd or 4th receiver from any other team, but Newton transformed them into winners.
Of course, he had Greg Olsen (the leading receiver of the Panthers this season), and he is one of the biggest ends tight of all time – but the way Carolina organized their program was no different from chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. The Front Office gave him total ass as weapons because they knew he could bail them out.
The offensive line had only two good players on it in C Ryan Kalil and RG Trai Turner. Apart from that, Newton was protected by Michael Oher and Mike Remmers. Do you know who is Mike Remers? Of course, no. No one outside of Charlotte knows who is Mike Remmers.
The point here is that the team around Newton would not have disappeared .500 without n ° 1 under the center. Not even at a distance a chance. Instead, they boasted of the offensive of the best score in the NFL and went to the Super Bowl only because of Cam Newton.
Can we really say that the same thing of Jalen hurts? Seriously, the answer is no. There are obviously things that he does exceptionally well. No quarter -arre is better to execute the Tash pusher, which the Eagles have refined in an art form – but the Eagles would have always been an eliminatory team with another QB capable under the center. Would they have won the Super Bowl? Maybe not, but they would have been in the photo.
Philadelphia’s offensive is unrivaled in the NFC. It is diversified, it can attack from all angles, and it is varied. Many were made of Saquon Barkley this season, and rightly – but it’s almost as if people have forgotten that Hurts had also Aj Brown, Devonta Smith and Dallas Goedert this season. Ask yourself: do you prefer to launch the ball at AJ Brown, Devonta Smith and Dallas Goedert-or Ted Ginn Jr., Corey Brown and Greg Olsen?
When the dust settlore Jalen Hurts had the best career of a mile. Even if he had to hang up right now, his career would be better. Winning a super bowl does this. However, if we delete the rest of the equation, Cam’s question against Jalen comes down to a simple factor: Cam Newton won despite the panthers, Jalen Hurts wins because of the Eagles.
Realizing that this is the key to appreciating that Newton was different from everything we saw in the NFL, and his career was wasted.
