Cambridge midfielder Knight extends deal to 2028

Cambridge United striker Ben Knight has signed a two-year contract extension until the end of the 2027-28 season.
Knight, 23, has scored six goals in 29 appearances this season – including three in the last four games – to help the U’s into the League Two promotion race.

They are fifth in the table, just two points off the top three, despite ending their 14-match unbeaten run at Harrogate on Saturday.
“We’re in a strong position and it’s a really exciting time. That’s why I want to be here,” said Knight, who joined Cambridge last summer after starting his career in Manchester City’s academy.
Boss Neil Harris added on the club website: “Over the last seven months, Ben has developed enormously, both on and off the pitch, and there is still so much more to come.
“He has a clear development path ahead of him which I believe will see him continue to grow as a footballer, and his form over the last six to eight weeks has certainly coincided with our rise up the rankings.”
Cambridge are in action again on Tuesday evening with an away match at Crawley Town.
