The Kansas City Chiefs waived veteran wide receiver Jason Brownlee on Monday, October 13.

Brownlee began his professional football career with the New York Jets, who signed him as a free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft. He joined the Chiefs as a free agent in 2024 and made Kansas City’s 53-man roster after stellar performances in training camp and preseason.

The Chiefs waived Brownlee to free up space on their 53-man roster for star Rashee Rice to fill when he returns from suspension in Week 7.

In a post on Twitter, KSHB 41’s Nick Jacobs shared the news of Brownlee’s departure from Kansas City and Rice’s return from suspension:

If Brownlee clears waivers, he would be an ideal candidate to return to Western Missouri as a member of the Chiefs’ practice squad.

Stay tuned to see if Brownlee could be picked up by another team or if he returns to Kansas City in the coming days.
