‘Cloud Curls’ Are Trending—and They’re Even Hotter Than the Weather Forecast

The wet temperatures of summer do not mean that you should remove your fluid curls. On the contrary, in fact, now that the “cloud loops” have a moment.

According to the hairdresser Tom Smith, who invented the tendency originally, the clouds of clouds refer to the “curved, light and airy texture”. They should intentionally form “a halo of gentle volume”, he continues. “They are less on defined loops and more on the diffuse texture and natural expansion. The look is ethereal and floating.”

As little maintenance as chic, it is this diffuse quality that distinguishes the cloud loops from other buckle styles. “Regular loops often follow a tighter or more structured pattern, but clouds are intentionally at the focus, with less control and more air,” explains Smith. “As a rule, the cloud loops are short enough for the silhouette to remain rounded with a good amount of root lifting and no obvious separation.”

Why are the cloud loops for a while right now?

Tom alerted us to cloud loops last year, but the trend of hair has really won vapor in recent weeks, with celebrities like Miley Cyrus leaning more and more in the look.

Part of its attraction can be seasonal, because hair tends to mock summer temperatures naturally, and we cannot be disturbed to use unnecessary heat to try to tame it.

“But that is also part of a greater movement towards individuality and freedom in the way we wear our hair,” notes Tom. “We slowly move away from hyper-brilliant and over-controlled hair and leaning over something softer and freer. The clouds of clouds feel emotional and romantic, and they really talk about the authenticity of textured hair.”

In other words, rather than collecting your curls in a bun – or fighting your natural texture with rectifiers – the clouds of clouds are to embrace this magnificent halo of soft and soft curls. Better still, Tom says he sees people with all types of curls embracing the clouds of clouds.
