Colbert Fans Seem Unaware How Much CBS Was Losing On ‘Late Show’

Protestant fans against the cancellation of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” do not seem to be aware that the network has lost 40 million dollars in the program.
CBS announced on July 17 that Colbert’s show would end in May 2026, citing a lack of profitability and adding that the show itself would be withdrawn at that time. A Fox News journalist interviewed the fans, who sang “Save Colbert” and organized a petition with more than 250,000 signatures, during a segment of the episode of “Jesse Watters” on Thursday evening. »» (Related: Brian Stelter really wants you to believe that the host at the end of the evening losing millions CBS was dismissed because of Trump)
“If you were making a product that lost 40 million dollars a year, would you continue to make this product?” Fox News journalist asked two women involved in the demonstration. “No,” said three women, with a man adding: “Absolutely not!”
“This is what is happening here,” said the journalist to the man, who answered. “They lose $ 40 million? So yes, this is a commercial decision.”

Liberal celebrities and certain Democrats said that cancellation was due to politics, offering conspiracy theories that Colbert had been canceled due to the merger awaiting Paramount with Skydance. The journalist asked other fans about the decision.
“I would make adjustments,” said a fan, but when asked if obtaining a new host or the modification of the subjects of the show was options, the fan said: “Hell, no!”
Other fans were in the denial of the network’s financial losses.
“They do not lose money because it is physically impossible with the number of advertisers they have,” said a man, before asking questions about the “marked guests” by Fox News journalist, who said that Democratic Senator Adam Schiff by California and Democratic representative Jerrold Nadler of New York qualified for this description.
CBS paid legal action of $ 10 billion filed by President Donald Trump for the modification of an interview of October 2024 with the president of the time, Kamala Harris, who was Trump’s opponent in the 2024 presidential election, attracting criticism from the interior of the company, including Colbert.
Fans did not seem to be aware of Colbert’s salary, which represents $ 15 million a year, according to Hollywood Life.
