Anthony Joshua will ‘break internet over Jake Paul’s face’ as fight is confirmed | Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will face off in a heavyweight fight in Miami on December 19, it has been confirmed.
Rumors of a fight between Paul, a YouTuber turned boxer, and Joshua, the British former world heavyweight champion, were first reported earlier this month and Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions, confirmed the news on Monday. The fight will be broadcast live on Netflix.
“This is not an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day,” Paul said. “A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime. When I beat Anthony Joshua, all doubt disappears and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted. To the people of the United Kingdom, I am sorry. On Friday December 19, under the lights of Miami, live worldwide only on Netflix, the torch passes and the British Goliath falls asleep.”
Joshua, the 36-year-old former two-time unified heavyweight champion, has not fought since being stopped by Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
“Jake or anyone can get this job. No mercy,” said Joshua, who won gold at the 2012 Olympics. “I took some time off and I’m coming back with a mega show. This is a big opportunity for me. Whether you like it or not, I’m here to put up massive numbers, put up big fights and break all the records while remaining cool, collected and collected. Mark my words, you will see a lot more fighters taking up these opportunities at the future. I’m about to break the internet because of Jake Paul’s face.
Paul was originally scheduled to fight Gervonta Davis on November 14 in Miami, but the event was canceled after Davis was removed from the card amid domestic violence allegations.
Netflix’s first boxing show – Paul’s Fight with Mike Tyson – became the most streamed sporting event in history, peaking at 65 million live simulcasts and attracting an average of 108 million live viewers worldwide. The show accounted for 56% of all U.S. viewers during the fight’s main event hour and was the platform’s No. 1 title that week in 78 countries. Paul and Joshua are expected to earn tens of millions from the December fight.
Joshua will be the heaviest fighter Paul has faced so far in his boxing career. Although Tyson is also a former heavyweight champion, Joshua is 23 years younger and still near his peak.
“They say be careful what you wish for, I feel like that’s all I have to say,” Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn said. “Two of the biggest names in the sport will face off on December 19. As much as I admire Jake’s balls, he’s going to find out the hard way in Miami.”
