Jordan Peterson’s Daughter Gives Major Health Update About Famous Father

The daughter of renowned Canadian clinical psychologist and author Dr. Jordan Peterson said Saturday that her father suffered from a “neurological injury of psychomedical origin.”
Peterson, who was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS) in August 2025, also suffers from akathisia, a movement disorder that creates difficulty sitting still and causes restlessness. Peterson’s daughter, Mikhaila, provided the update in a post Saturday on X that included a 35-minute video. (RELATED: Left-wing politician ditches Mother of All Awakened acronyms)
“We discovered that Dad suffered from neurological damage caused by psychiatric medications and suffered from akathisia. It has been 6 years since he last took psychiatric medications,” Mikhaila wrote. “Last summer his symptoms began, after a likely mold-induced flare-up (CIRS) and stress. It was complicated by pneumonia and associated sepsis a month later. It’s horrible. Neurological injuries from psychiatric medications are much more common than you think.”

“I made this video to explain what akathisia is and what it is, because we don’t talk about it enough, they are misdiagnosed, almost impossible to treat and hidden by the pharmaceutical industry,” Mikhaila continued. “I have no plans to give another update on my father, this is stressing my family and myself, and there is nothing more to say about it until things improve. I will be skipping psychiatric injury awareness from now on as it is also impacting my health and is devastating. Prayers are always appreciated.”
Peterson became a popular cultural and social commentator among conservatives when his research funding was cut off in 2017 after he refused to use non-binary pronouns. His daughter urged those who were using medications not to rush to give them up, despite her father’s condition.
“Warning for people listening to psychological medications – if you are taking a psychological medication, especially a benzodiazepine, long term and are stable, don’t feel pressured to taper off,” Mikhaila added in a follow-up post on X. “Do your research but don’t be alarmed by this video and destabilizing a stable situation without knowing the risks.”
In August 2023, a Canadian court upheld a decision by the College of Psychologists of Ontario requiring Dr. Peterson to receive sensitivity training following an interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast and comments he made on social media about transgender. Although Peterson job to social media that he had refused to comply with the initial ruling in January, he later said he would do so. “I’m going to do everything I can to make this as public as possible. I mean, I’ve done it all along,” Peterson told Fox News host Jesse Watters in August 2023. “I released all the documents that included the accusations, so to speak, that the College [has] imposed against me. I want to make 100% transparent what led the public to decide for themselves who exactly is acting, let’s say, unprofessionally.”
