Commander Who Works With DHS Schools NC Dems Over Fear-Mongering on ICE Moving From Chicago to Charlotte – RedState

Fittingly, unforgettable images continue to haunt Americans and the world since the brutal murder of Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee, on the night of August 22, as RedState widely reported at the time. My colleague Sister Toldjah denounced the obvious complicit silence of the mainstream media in the wake of violence perpetrated by repeat offenders like the alleged killer, Decarlos Brown Jr.
This is no different than most illegal immigrants who shouldn’t even be in our country.

Under the Trump 47 administration, as promised throughout the 2024 election, the Department of Homeland Security has deployed Customs and Border Patrol (CBP)/Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents across the country, in cities as diverse as Los Angeles, Memphis, Tennessee, Chicago…and now Charlotte, North Carolina. The news of the latter was known at the beginning of the week, which was confirmed Thursday by the Mecklenburg County sheriff:
The U.S. Border Patrol will soon visit Charlotte, Mecklenburg Sheriff Gary McFadden confirmed. The Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said they were not discussing planned operations.
Besides the sheriff, several Democrats in the Old North State apparently have a problem with this.
Local officials, including members of the Charlotte City Council, co-signed a letter Tuesday saying police there “[don’t] has the authority to enforce immigration laws and does not participate in federal immigration operations”:
“Our message is simple: Mecklenburg County and Charlotte are communities of belonging. We will stand together, look out for each other, and ensure that fear never divides the city we all live in,” Charlotte City Council member-elect JD Mazuera Arias said in a statement shared on his social media accounts Tuesday evening.
The letter was also signed by Charlotte City Council member Dimple Ajmera, County Commissioner Susan Rodrguez-McDowell, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board member Liz Monterrey Duvall, and state legislators Jordan Lopez, Mujtaba Mohammed and Caleb Theodros. The group said state and local leaders do not control or direct immigration operations, but “will continue to work to advance policies that protect Mecklenburg County and North Carolina families and strengthen due process and public trust.” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police do not have authority to enforce immigration laws and do not participate in federal immigration operations, they added.
And here (as she depicts in her
“I am extremely concerned about the deployment of U.S. Border Patrol and ICE agents to Charlotte,” Adams said. “Charlotte’s immigrant community is proud to be part of the Queen City, and I will not stand by and watch as my constituents are intimidated or harassed.”
“Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity,” she continued, “and what we have seen Border Patrol and ICE agents do in places like Chicago and Los Angeles – using excessive force in their operations and throwing tear gas at peaceful protesters – threatens the well-being of the communities they enter.”
She called these actions claimed by DHS “tactics” and “values” that are not upheld by Charlotte or the county in which she resides.

Democratic Gov. Josh Stein also spoke out against ICE’s removal of criminal illegal aliens from his state, insisting in a statement Friday that local law enforcement is in charge:

Sheriff McFadden released a statement Tuesday that will sound familiar to readers – in which he said “no federal official had informed him or CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings of any proposed federal immigration operation,” according to The Charlotte Observer.
The sheriff’s department statement continues:
“Given the current climate surrounding immigration and the potential for violence associated with law enforcement operations at all levels, Sheriff McFadden respectfully requests that any CBP activity taking place in Mecklenburg County be communicated in advance to MCSO and local law enforcement, along with any relevant updates or points of contact. This will help ensure the safety of all parties involved.”
Although his department had more meetings with DHS about collaboration, which left him “hopeful,” earlier in 2025, the sheriff criticized ICE agents for an illegal escape outside the county courthouse that ended in a local pond — and for wearing masks during the operations.
“The duck pond incident really bothered me,” he said in an October interview. “When you sneak around, we don’t know who you are. And you wear a mask?”
Perhaps the sheriff is unaware or, more likely, deliberately ignoring the danger ICE personnel face daily, including being followed home and harassed by activists who serve no purpose, as we wrote recently.
Does this mean anything to you? These blue city/state Democrats are so predictable…that they want ICE to “coordinate” with the police, while accusing them of being no better than terrorists. Yeah, no, ICE is not going to telegraph its operations to you.
The same thing happened with officials in Illinois and Chicago.

There’s not a lot of coordination going on for a reason, leftists.
On Friday, Gregory K. Bovino, a commander who works with DHS in Los Angeles, jumped on
“Immigrants, rest assured, we support you as we did in Chicago and Los Angeles,” he wrote. “Representative Adams, perhaps you and Governor STEIN should learn the difference between an illegal alien and an immigrant. Illegal aliens have NO PLACE in our communities and should self-deport through CBP Home.”
In the Charlotte Observer article linked above, CBP and DHS said they would not waver in their commitment to Americans’ safety, whether Democratic Poles liked it or not.
Border Patrol officials told McClatchy on Tuesday that the agency is not “discussing future or potential operations.” “Every day, DHS enforces the nation’s laws across the country,” Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of Homeland Security, said in a statement.
So what was North Carolina Rep. Adams’ priority this week? She shared that something by proudly posting about it on
