‘Constitutional Right’: Judge Shuts Down Michigan 2020 ‘Fake Electors’ Case

A Michigan judge rejected on Tuesday 15 people accused of having acted as “false voters” for President Donald Trump in the 2020 elections.
Michigan Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel has brought costs In 2023 against 16 people for having pretended to act as voters in electoral college and expressed electoral votes for Trump, despite former president Joe Bid popular vote in the state. However, the judge of the district court Kristen Simmons judged Tuesday that there was not enough evidence to prove that the defendants had acted with a criminal intention, according to several media.
“”This is not a case of electoral interference ”, sImmons said at a hearing on Tuesday, according to ABC News.
“I believe that they executed their constitutional right to request compensation, and this is based on the declarations of all the witnesses of the people,” added the judge. “There are a lot of things that could cause a break in the electoral process, and that does not mean that it is criminal.” (Related: Michigan Ag Dana Nessel calls “a Drag Queen for each school” at the Woke conference)

THE costs were linked to a meeting of December 2020 where members of the group – including several senior state officials from the state – would have signed documents claiming that they were members of the electoral college and tried to vote for Trump.
The 16 defendants pleaded not guilty to the accusations, but a person dropped the accusations against him after agreeing to cooperate with the Office of the Attorney General of the State in October 2023.
“Well, bad or indifferent, it is these individuals and many other people in the state of Michigan who sincerely believe, for any reason, that there were serious irregularities with the elections, or with the vote, and that their candidate did not receive all the votes which were intended for them” Cnn.
Nessel rejected the decision, appealing to a “very bad decision”.
“As prosecutors, we have a moral and ethical obligation to bring charges when there is evidence of a crime”, Nessel said At a press conference after the decision. “Despite the very bad decision of the very bad, the evidence is clear and overwhelming.”
Prosecutors can appeal the decision and Nessel said on Tuesday that it “assesses” its options, CNN reported.
“It was a farce from the start,” a lawyer representing the defendant Meshawn Maddock told CNN. “There was no counterfeiting. There was no plot. There was no fraud. We maintained their innocence from the first day. And Dana Nessel must be held responsible.”
Meanwhile, Nessel attracted the counterpoup in May after it Abandoned charges Against anti-Israeli demonstrators at the University of Michigan, saying that “a reasonable jury will judge the defendants guilty of alleged crimes”, but that “the case has become a lightning rod”.
