President Donald Trump announced Saturday that a peace deal between the United States, Iran and other regional partners had been “extensively negotiated,” including the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Building on his Truth Social platform, President Trump said that following an Oval Office call Saturday with Middle East leaders and a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a “memorandum of understanding” regarding peace between Washington and Tehran had been agreed in principle.

President Trump’s speakers on Saturday include Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, Pakistani Defense Chief Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Jordanian King Abdullah II and King of Jordan. Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

“An agreement has been extensively negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the various other listed countries,” he wrote.

President Trump said the final details of the deal were “currently under discussion” and would be announced shortly.

“In addition to many other elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be open. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he said.

The announcement comes after President Trump warned Saturday that either a deal would be made or he would “blow the deal up.” [Iran] to the kingdom come.”

“I think one of two things will happen: Either I hit them harder than they’ve ever been hit, or we’re going to sign a good deal,” Trump told Axios. “Some would much prefer a deal and others would prefer to return to war.”

He said a deal would only be reached if fundamental issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and its stockpile of enriched uranium, were resolved.

While the United States, Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire last month, American forces continued to pressure Tehran by imposing a blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier Saturday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that he had redirected 100 commercial ships to prevent them from reaching Iranian ports, likely inflicting significant economic hardship on the regime by preventing the export of oil.

“Our military is doing an extraordinary job,” said CENTCOM Commander, Admiral Brad Cooper. “They were very efficient in executing the mission with precision and professionalism, allowing zero trade to and from Iranian ports, which put Iran in a difficult economic situation. »

Speaking ahead of President Trump’s announcement on Saturday on the sidelines of his diplomatic trip to India, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested a deal could be imminent, saying “progress has been made.”

“Iran can never have nuclear weapons. The straits must be opened without tolls. They must return their enriched uranium,” Rubio said.

“Those are the president’s arguments consistently, and his preference is always to deal with them diplomatically. The president’s preference is always to resolve issues like these through a negotiated diplomatic solution. That’s what we’re working on right now. But this issue will be resolved as the president has made clear, one way or another. We hope it will be done diplomatically,” the top US diplomat added.
