Americans continue to invest in their aesthetic health.

A new report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) shows regular growth in aesthetic procedures last year, in particular in the bodily outline and mini-invasive treatments.

The report data, detailed below, reveal where people spend their money.

Cosmetic surgeries are stable

Of nearly 1.6 million cosmetic surgical procedures carried out in 2024, liposuction and breast augmentation exceeded the list.

Surgeons think that this can reflect the growing use of GLP-1 weight loss drugs, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, which can lead to dressed skin.

Mini-invasive treatments reign supreme

Minimumly invasive procedures continue to dominate the aesthetic landscape, with more than 28.5 million years last year. The first five listed below led the pack.

  • Neuromodulator injections (for example, botox, dysport): 9,883.711
  • Hyaluronic acid charges (HA): 5 331 426

“These treatments remain strong because of their affordability and their short stop time,” said the Surgeon Member of ASPS, Dr. Kristy Hamilton, a general plastic surgeon based in Houston, Texas, in the press release.

“Despite the so-called” filling fatigue “, HA loads continue to dominate the list-when they are made naturally, they are extremely effective,” she added.

Weight loss connection

For the first time, ASPS followed the use of GLP-1 weight loss drugs, noting that more than 837,000 prescriptions were written by ASPS surgeons in 2024.

Among these patients, 20% had already undergone surgery, 39% envisaged surgery and 41% explored non -surgical options, shared the report.

The impact of weight loss drugs on the risk of cancer revealed in a new study

“These drugs help patients reach a healthy weight before surgery,” said Dr. Heather Faulkner, a cosmetic plastic surgeon based in Atlanta, Goergia, in the press release.

“But they are not substitutes – you must be close to your objective weight before considering procedures such as vomiting folds or elevators.”

What is feeding interest?

A number of factors could contribute to the high demand for cosmetic procedures, according to experts.

“Perhaps it is a greater exposure via social media or a general decrease in taboos,” said Hollenbeck. “Anyway, patients prioritize their aesthetic health.”

Surgeons agree that aesthetic procedures go beyond vanity, suggesting that they consist in feeling strong, confident and healthy.

Many also see them as part of a holistic routine of personal care, alongside diet, physical form and mental well-being.

“Patients favor their aesthetic health.”

Social media also helps to normalize aesthetic care, making procedures more accessible and less stigmatized, the report indicates.

Patients now discuss their experiences openly and are looking for natural and subtle improvements, not exaggerated results.

“There is a trend towards the” ballerina body “, said Dr. Michele Shermak, a general plastic surgeon based in Baltimore, Maryland, in the report.

Savings security

Although trends can come and go, ASPS stresses that security must always pass first, recommending that procedures be carried out by certified plastic surgeons with appropriate training and experience.

“Patients want to look and feel better,” added Hollenbeck. “And when it is well done, aesthetic care can support mental and physical well-being in a really significant way.”
