Subaru does not have the deepest bench with regard to electric vehicles. There is the Solterra, now in its third model year, and the next trailseeker, which promises to be the Outback of the Impreza of Solterra when it was released in 2026.

We can now add a new member to the range. The Subaru Uncharted 2026 is an electrical crossing SUV which, like Solterra and Trailseeker, is built on the Toyota E-Tnga platform. When it will be released next year, the Uncharted will have more than 300 miles estimated, 338 horsepower and a sporting style adapting to one of the favorite external car brands in America.

With Uncharted, Subaru finally seems that he is ready to speed up the pace of electrification. Subaru and electric vehicles always seem to be a good adjustment – its customers are a bit crunchy and take advantage of dating robust trails in AWD vehicles – so it is a bit confusing that the brand has taken so long to come to technology. But with a heaviness from Toyota, Subaru has lost time.

That said, Subaru sticks to a fairly familiar model with the Uncharted. The compact crossing will have two engines for AWD, 338 horsepower and an acceleration time from 0 to 60 MPH under 5 seconds on the sports and GT versions. All this above the finely adjusted suspension of Subaru for more refined manipulation.

How do the Uncharted accumulate against the Subaru EV EV? It is shorter than the Solterra of almost 7 inches, but offers more loading capacity, with more than 25 cubic feet of loading space behind the second row (the Solterra has only 23.8 cubic feet of cargo, or 63.5 cubic feet with the second row folded flat).

The 74.7 kWh battery will provide approximately 290 miles of range on sports and GT garnishes with AWD, and more than 300 miles on the front traction version, which has 228 horsepower and a lower price. The Uncharted will be delivered with a standard NACS load port for access to Tesla compressor stations. Subaru claims that 10 to 80% billing in less than 30 minutes, thanks to the batteries preconditioning features. Although the Tesla V3 super-loading load and more are probably a little slower than expected, because Uncharted only supports load speeds up to 150 kW.

Inside, the 14 -inch infotainment screen supports Apple Carplay and Wireless Android connections. The central console includes twin wireless load pads which are standard on all versions. And even if the climatic functions appear on the central touch screen, there are a good share of physical pimples, especially around the gear lever mounted on the center.

In appearance, the Uncharted looks like the recently revealed Toyota C-HR. Given their shared technology and architecture, it is likely that Uncharted is essentially a cousin of the C-HR. (A Subaru spokesperson did not answer questions about the shared platform.)

Subaru is still distinguished, thanks to its emblematic badge and reputation among a certain segment of urban and suburban inhabitants who seek nature. Solterra was a surprise success for the Japanese car manufacturer, selling 3,131 units in the first quarter of 2025 against 1,147 in the first quarter of last year. This represents an increase of 173% from one year to another.

Subaru certainly counts that 2026 is a year of escape for its activities of emerging electric vehicles. But with evaporating federal incentives and conspirable prices to increase prices, the company will have to push very hard if it hopes to maintain the momentum.
