Chargers vs. 49ers what to watch: Backup QB battle takes center stage

The uncertainty around the return of Najee Harris is still looming, creating a domino effect in the living room. Harris has not yet progressed beyond the leg game exercises and appears closer to an extended stay on the list of non-football injuries than to adapt to week 1.
If it comes back, the staff faces a difficult decision: choosing two backs of the Hassan Haskins trio, Kimani Vidal and the Recrue Raheim Sanders – with a potentially on the cutting block.
Sanders was promising in pre-season with 15 races for 53 yards and two affected, but Haskins and Vidal know the system more. Haskins, who played for coach Jim Harbaugh in Michigan, is considered a contributor to the “basic” special teams. Vidal, entering its second year, is one step ahead of the recruit.
Feeling the pressure of the cutting day, Sanders said he was not shaken.
