Cult classic ‘Romy and Michele’ heading to Off-Broadway

A musical vision of “Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion” arrives outside Broadway this fall.

“Romy & Michele: The Musical” will open on October 28 at stadium 42, with glimpses starting two weeks earlier, reports Playbill.com. Tickets will be available later this month.

Robin Schiff, who wrote the 1997 film – with Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow as Romy and Michele, respectively – wrote the show, who made his debut at the Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theater in 2017.

Kristin Hanggi, who directed that the production and “Rock of Ages” by Broadway, will lead the next “Feel-Go Joyride”, including the “pop inspiration of the 80s and 90s” comes from Gwendolyn Sanford and Brandon Jay.

Like its large screen predecessor, scenic production focuses on two friends Déri, ​​who predict a return during their high school reunion at 10 years old, fueled by lies on their role in the origin of post-not, while wearing dresses that seem to have been stolen in “Austin Powers” females.

The new one follows another major development that Hollywood Reporter broke out in the legacy of Cult Classic. At the end of January, Sorvino and Kudrow were both in negotiations to resume their roles in a long -awaited suite.
