Experts agree: Temperature-wise, cows like it cool. This biological fact admittedly has little to do with Dakota Johnson’s fashion.… But is it purely coincidence that the cow print has made its mark as her must-have animal pattern for the cooler months of the year? (Probably.)
Cow prints were already ubiquitous on jackets, pants, and bags for spring 2025, and now they’re enjoying continuing popularity for sneakers in the fall, competing with leopard print—and we can all thank Johnson for that. The actor revealed in her Vogue Germany cover interview that a certain Adidas style in a cow print is her favorite sneaker right now.
When asked about her current essential basics, Johnson told Vogue: “Always vintage Levi’s. If you can find a good pair—real ones, not re-tailored ones!—that’s the classic that always looks good. And I really like Agolde jeans.” She added, “As for sneakers: always Adidas and Nike. Adidas has these slip-on sneakers with a cow print pattern that I love right now.”
A quick search revealed that the slip-on sneakers Dakota Johnson was talking about could only be the trendy Taekwondo style from Adidas. “Without laces and Velcro fasteners, the shoes are not only comfortable and stylish, but are also very much in the spirit of the 2000s,” Vogue Germany noted back in March 2025 about the sneaker’s comeback.
Dakota Johnson showed off this particular cow-print pair earlier this summer, styling them with wide jeans and a classic trench coat. The rich brown cow pattern looks particularly great with the actor’s minimalist style, harmonizing wonderfully with a neutral color palette. This makes the sneaker trend ideal for the cooler season and classic autumnal colors. You can bet we’ll be following in Johnson’s footsteps this season.
