Danes and Americans react to US threats against Greenland

People expressed concern and surprise in Copenhagen and “America’s Danish capital,” Solvang, California, as Trump doubled down on efforts to bring Greenland under U.S. control.
The foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland traveled to Washington on Wednesday to meet with US Vice President JD Vance.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said that while the negotiations had been constructive, there remained a “fundamental disagreement” between the two sides, and went on to criticize US President Donald Trump’s proposal to buy Greenland.
Although Trump has not ruled out the use of force, he said Wednesday evening that he believed something could be found with the semi-autonomous Danish territory.
Several European states have sent soldiers to Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, as part of a so-called reconnaissance mission.
