Openreach said yes to full fibre broadband, then branded it ‘uneconomical’ | Broadband

My internet service provider informed me by email that full fiber broadband had become available for my property, confirmed by Openreach’s ‘fibre checker’ tool.
After a month, Openreach declared the connection unprofitable due to blockages in conduits below the road.
I can’t change provider because they claim my property is connectable, so ISPs will only offer full fiber.

Openreach miraculously found a solution after raising the issue.
Business factors could delay an upgrade if infrastructure is inadequate. He added that his online checker is only “an indicator of a fiber connection” and not a guarantee.
“We looked in detail at what is needed to connect JN’s home and found a way to make it happen,” the statement said.
“Sometimes we encounter unexpected problems when we make the final connection. These cases are rare and when they do occur we work hard to resolve them, but we are sorry that we are not always able to do so.”
