A new study from Macquarie University finds Sydney’s suburbs are moving towards denser urban landscapes with fewer trees. A typical rebuild in suburban Sydney destroys almost half of the front garden and more than 60% of the tree canopy, according to a new study published in the journal Cities. Driveways are also getting wider – up to 57% – as large homes and double garages increasingly dominate suburban streets.
