Delta passengers stranded overnight on island in the middle of Atlantic Ocean

A jet delta experienced engine problems on what was supposed to be a transatlantic flight and landed on an island in the middle of the ocean, where nearly 300 travelers and crew had to spend the night, officials announced on Thursday.
Flight 127 left Madrid on Sunday, for John F. Kennedy in New York international airport, when he had to “turn to Lajes, Azores (TER) after indicating a mechanical problem with a engine,” said a airline statement.

The Airbus A330 had 282 customers and 13 crew members on board, said Delta.
The passengers and the crew “moved via stairs to Ter” and “were hosted overnight in the hotels in the region and provided meals,” added the airline.
They were removed from the island of the Azores of Portugal Azores on a new plane on Monday.
“The flight has landed safely, and we sincerely apologize to our customers for their experience and their delay in their travels,” said Delta.
