Democrat Asks GOP With Straight Face To Open Government Despite Voting To Force Shutdown

California Democratic Rep. Dave Min called on Senate Republicans to reopen the government on Monday — despite Min having nearly all House Democrats vote against a GOP-backed bill to fund the government and avoid a shutdown.
Min urged Republican lawmakers to “open up the government and not, in doing so, end health care for 15 million more Americans.” in a video posted on X Monday by his colleague, Virginia Democratic Representative Suhas Subramanyam. Min and Subramanyam, who also appeared in the video, voted against an interim funding plan to keep the government open until November 21.
In the video, Min called on fellow Republicans to “get their shit together.”
“You were able to pass bills on a partisan basis, when they took away Americans’ health care, when they took away vital food assistance,” Min continued.

“This [the shutdown] is already having impacts near my district. We saw in Burbank today, the air traffic controllers didn’t show up,” Min added in the video. “Right now, all the air traffic controllers, all the TSA agents [Transportation Security Administration] agents, leave without pay. They are asked to introduce themselves. But at some point, as this case moves forward, I guess I would ask you all: Would you continue to show up to your job if you weren’t getting paid? »
“We are hearing more and more reports that people are not receiving their Social Security and other checks,” Min continued. “So this is a slowly unfolding disaster that is happening before our eyes. » (RELATED: Democrats who voted against funding the government are suddenly hysterical about the ‘harm’ the shutdown could cause.
Congressman Min’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

The White House took steps last week to support two of the most critical programs facing lost benefits during the shutdown.
A program Providing food security for nearly 7 million low-income mothers, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) received funding from rate revenues after it was reported that the program’s benefits would stop operating. The White House also stepped in over the weekend to direct funding for the 1.3 million active-duty troops who otherwise would not have received their paychecks for the first time in history.
Rep. Min came under fire last month after posting on X that Charlie Kirk’s killer had been “identified as MAGA,” which turned out to be a premature diagnosis of the killer’s motivations.
