Democrat Seeks ‘Military-Grade Weapons’ Ban After WHCD Attack

Pennsylvania State Representative and former Democratic Party Vice Chairman Malcolm Kenyatta pushed for a ban on “military-grade weapons” after the pistol/shotgun attack at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD).
Kenyatta responded after the WHCD attack to comments that a ballroom would be a more secure accommodation site than a hotel by posting on X:
Breitbart News noted that the alleged WHCD attacker, Cole Allen, used guns he purchased legally in California. Additionally, law enforcement said two firearms – a handgun and a shotgun – were recovered from Allen during his apprehension.
NBC News reported that one of the weapons was a Maverick shotgun, which is a pump-action firearm. They noted the other weapon was a pistol.
None of these weapons are “military-grade weapons,” so Kenyatta’s proposed ban would not have hindered the WHCD attack, much less stopped it.
