Garfield and South Gate headed toward Eastern League showdown
Two games in the Eastern League football season and it is already clear that the October 17 match with Garfield in South Gate is expected to decide on the league championship.
Garfield (3-2, 2-0), with the Ballon Bearer All-City Ceasar Reyes in the lead, beat Huntington Park 35-28 Thursday evening. South Gate (4-2, 2-0), counting on the quarter-Arrière Michael Gonzalez, beat Legacy 48-8.
Reyes rushed to 259 yards in 20 races and scored four affected. He also had eight in defense. Reyes saw a certain action like a quarter of Wildcat, adding options for the first year coach Patrick Vargas.
Gonzalez has passed for 202 yards and a touchdown and ran for 71 yards and two affected against Legacy. He has 16 passes this season.
