Shooting at Nevada casino leaves three dead, with wounded suspect in custody | Nevada

A shooter opened fire in a Nevada casino on Monday morning, killing three people before being arrested, police said.
The suspect had no known link with the victims, police said, adding that the reason is unknown.
The alleged shooter of the Grand Sierra Resort was one of the people transported to the hospital, said Dr. Chad Kingsley, head of district health for the Department of Public Health in northern Nevada.
The local media KRNV reported that the Police of Reno responded to a report by an active shooter at the Grand Sierra Resort around 7:25 am. In four or five minutes, the police found the suspect, who was then taken to the hospital after the police described as a shooting involving an officer.
The incident began outside near the station’s valet area and may have extended to other parts of the property, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported, quoting officials of the law enforcement.
In addition to those who were killed and people taken to the hospital, three others were treated for minor injuries at the complex, according to Devon Reese, president of the Board of Health in northern Nevada. One person was blurred by a bullet on his little finger, one was treated for severe anxiety and one was injured during his race, he said.
Hotel customers have heard several shots from the station valet.
Michael Sisco, 60, said he was in his room and went to the valet for his car when he heard exploded sounds. He looked through his window and saw people screaming and running from the valet region.
He said he had seen a man holding his stomach and stunning before falling motionless next to a car. Sisco moved away from the window as the gunshots continued.
“Half an hour after the incident, I started to tremble because I realized that I could have been there,” he said. “This is exactly where I was going.”
Christina Martinez heard the gunshots when she entered an elevator in the hall, and they still left when she came out on the 18th floor.
Someone in a neighboring room told him that there was a shooter just outside the main entrance, near the place where Martinez said she was taking a coffee for a few moments before.
“I feel very blessed, but that’s the reason why I had a panic crisis,” she said. “I was like, oh my God. I was right there. “
The complex is one of the most important places in Reno, organizing concerts, sporting events and a campaign gathering of Donald Trump before the 2024 elections. Near the Californian border and just northeast of Lake Tahoe, the city is a popular summer tourist destination.
The Grand Sierra Resort condemned “insane violence” in a statement to the Gazette-Journal.
“We have a heart broken by the insane violence that occurred in our parking lot earlier during the day,” said the Grand Sierra Resort.
“Our thoughts concern the victims and all the people affected by this tragic incident.”
“It could have been much worse,” said the mayor of Reno, Hillary Schieve. “We don’t yet know how it started or that has been involved.”
