We ‘Have a Lot of Vacancies’ on Police Force

In the broadcast of Tuesday of “CNN This Morning”, the municipal councilor of DC Christina Henderson (I) said that there were “many vacant positions” on the city’s police forces “but we have not reduced these positions. And we certainly need to do more work in terms of recruitment and retention of our officers. And to fill the vacancies on the Superior Court is a better means of deterrence than “thousands of police officers and the National Guard in our streets”.
Henderson said: “Well, we have more than 3,100 sworn officers. And, yes, the union leader is right, we are a lot of vacant positions. have soldiers who mainly keep the streets of an American city and their own residents. »»
She added, “[W]Hearing our federal partners that we have to do more on the crime, I also want to tell them, I need that you do more crime. I have a 21% vacancy before my Superior DC courtyard. It is criminal, family, juvenile, all these cases. And when you have no quick justice, I think it is a greater means of deterrence than having thousands of police officers and the National Guard in our streets. »»
