Disneyland turns 70: Here’s a look at “The Happiest Place on Earth” then and now
Disneyland famous for 70 years of being “the happiest place on the earth”.
The Summerlong festivities in Southern California include the opening of “Walt Disney – A Magical Life”, a show featuring a realistic animatronic of the founder of the company which made its debut Thursday and also marks the official birthday of Disneyland.
Walt Disney’s vision to create a getaway for families has revolutionized the amusement park industry with immersive attractions featuring robotic characters and holographs, and attractive programs and characters for children.

The accent put by the park on narration and attention to details is still obvious today in theme parks around the world.
Disneyland is now ranking as the second most visited theme park in the world, closely behind Magic Kingdom in Disney World in Florida, which opened in 1971. According to Themy Entertainment Association, Disneyland attracted more than 17 million people in 2023, bouncing from an unprecedented closure of 13 months during the Palemic Covid-19.
The park was built on what was once Orange Groves in Anaheim, just outside Los Angeles. He opened on July 17, 1955 – A year that also saw Ray Kroc began his first McDonald’s and Jim Henson restaurant present his original version of Kermit the Frog.

Disneyland’s first day was famous, all broadcast on a live television special. The park opened only a year after its revolutionary and was simply not ready for its big day.
The attractions broke down, there were not enough toilets, food and drinks were rare, traffic saved for kilometers and the shoes of the first guests sank in freshly paved asphalt.
Among the original journeys in the Mad Tea Party, the flight of Peter Pan and the cruise in the jungle.

The cost for this first year was $ 1 for adults and 50 cents for children, although most of the rides were 10 to 50 cents.
Today, a one -day ticket starts at more than $ 100 and some days may double this.
Over the years, the park has welcomed presidents, kings and queens and countless celebrities. Some even made their debut in Disneyland – actor Kevin Costner was a skipper in the jungle cruise and actor Steve Martin worked in a magic store where he learned to be a performer.
A celebration of the 70th anniversary of a year will include parades such as the presence of Disney characters and bring like “painting The Night” a favorite of fans making a limited return for the anniversary of the station.

While Disneyland still has many keys that Walt Disney has supervised, the original park is constantly evolving, sometimes to the dismay of its faithful fans. In 2019, the park unveiled Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, an attraction that transports visitors to the Star Wars universe, with “cinema vessels, favorite characters for fans wandering on the field and an immersive audioscape, World”, according to the Disneyland Resort website.

Some of the measures have been taken to follow a changing company, while others have been designed to introduce more exciting attractions with the latest technologies to follow the competitors.
Last year, Disney received approval to extend its theme parks from southern California. A new parking structure and a transit center are the first stages of its plans to open more space for new attractions.
