DJI is a household name for drones and quadcopters, but did you know the company also makes portable power stations, action cameras, gimbals, and even e-bikes? DJI’s fancy Amflow electric mountain bike line is available this week in the United States, but at an eye-watering price tag.
To be more specific, Amflow is a DJI subsidiary. It launched in Europe in 2024, debuting a highly capable new Avinox drive unit for its e-bikes. So far, the launch has seen widespread success, and now the company is ready to shred some trails in the United States.
So, what makes DJI’s electric bikes so impressive and expensive? For starters, these are high-end eMTBs designed with ultra-light and durable carbon frames, FOX Float and Fox 36 suspension with tons of travel, SRAM components, and a large 800Wh battery that delivers tons of performance, torque, and distance.
The Amflow PL Carbon will cost you an eye-watering $7,499, but it’s a premium bike built to compete with the best of the best. The Amflow PL Carbon Pro is a little over $10,000 and has upgrades throughout. Seriously, that’s almost as much as a used car. For bike enthusiasts, some of those include a Fox 36 “Factory” fork and rear shock, even better SRAM components and derailleurs, and Magura MT7 Pro hydraulic disc brakes.
However, the star of the show is Amflow’s incredibly capable yet lightweight Anivox drive unit. DJI put a ton of effort into its 1000W Avinox drive unit, motor, and battery system that powers everything. DJI is a leader in the drone world thanks to its lightweight drone motors and battery units, and it brought that same innovation to ebikes.
The Anivox drive system is capable of delivering 120Nm of max torque. You can shred some single track, rip up or down trails, and feel in total control while you’re hitting dirt. And with an 800W battery that promises around 97 miles of range, you’ll have enough juice for the toughest trails.
Both e-bikes come equipped with beefy Maxxis 29-inch tires, alloy or carbon handlebars, adjustable seatposts, and a 2-inch OLED touchscreen for controlling all the different e-bike modes. All of that in a package that weighs around 44 lbs.
Amflow is a disruptive new entry that offers impressive specs and performance in a market often dominated by Specialized, Trek, Giant, and others. We’ve seen big names like Yamaha release epic bikes with excellent performance, only to eventually pull out of the market. We’ll see how well DJI fares against the competition.
