DNA testing for migrants at border urged to stop child trafficking

EXCLUSIVE: Senator Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Renews the call for DNA tests for migrants in order to prevent trafficking to the southern border of a letter sent to the Ministry of Internal Security Friday morning.

Blackburn noted that the recent adoption of “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” contains funding for the practice in billions intended for border security and the application of immigration.

“As an essential component of this commitment, this historical legislation provides essential resources to prevent children’s trafficking and recycling children – allocating in particular the funds to the collection of fingerprints ” and” DNA collection “in accordance with the Immigration and Nationality Act,” wrote the Senator in the letter.

“The implementation of this critical provision will be an important step in our struggle to protect these innocent children-many of whom were victims of trafficking in the United States during the Biden border crisis,” she added.

There have been increasing concerns concerning unaccompanied migrant children who entered the United States but who had not correctly verified the sponsors.

Millions of people illegally entered the country during the Biden administration, and the meetings have since taken a nose. However, long -term discussions on the future of border security have been raised for legislators after the crisis, whether it is to fill gaps on the wall or to retaliate against drug cartels.

“DNA family tests and fingerprints have served as proven and effective tools that customs and border protection (CBP) can use to combat children’s trafficking, identify dangerous criminals, check family relationships and protect these innocent children against exploitation,” said the letter.

The Trump administration announced at the end of last month that 13,000 children had been located who had “lost or not evaluated sponsors” and were almost completed on a backlog of 65,000 cases of the border crisis of the Biden era.

The DHS declared at the time that it had led to 4,000 “investigatives” linked to possible criminal activity.

“The illness of human trafficking cannot be overestimated. It is modern slavery. By leaving our borders open and even by encouraging people to come here illegally, Biden has enabled the greatest human trafficking operation in modern history,” said the secretary of the DHS, Kristi Noem, in a press release of July 25. “We have a unique opportunity to eradicate human trafficking operations targeting the United States. Under the leadership of President Donald Trump, and working together at all levels of government, we can win this fight. And we will.”

Fox News Digital contacted the Ministry of Internal Security to comment on the letter.

“I urge you to use these funds for: (1) Continue to use DNA verification technology – including rapid DNA tests – to confirm family relationships on the border; and (2) ensure that all migrants are focused by digital by asking for admission to the United States, including migrants younger than 14 years,” added Blackburn.
