Nissan’s Latest Nismo SUV Isn’t Coming Here — But Would You Even Want It?
Nissan’s last NISSMO SUV NISMO does not come here – but would you even want it? Initially appeared on Autoblog.
Nissan is preparing to launch another SUV under its Nismo performance banner, but it could let buyers want more. The X-Trail Nismo, which makes its debut in Japan on August 21, brings net looks and some chassis adjustments, but not the type of firepower generally expected by the name of Nismo. Since the X-Trail is the counterpart abroad of the Nissan Rogue, American buyers will not see this one, which could be for the best.
A wicked look without the muscle
Nismo has developed in the Nissan SUV range, more recently with Armada, and now with X-Trail. According to Creative Trend, you can expect a more sporty front with a massive separator with additional side skirts, a redesigned rear bumper, escape passages and many red accents. It will drive on 20 -inch ENKEI alloys wrapped in Michelin rubber, with six available colors, including two -color options. At the end of the day, it’s more a set of appearance than anything else.
Same power, subtle adjustments
Nissan
Despite the badge, the Nismo X-Trail retains the same hybrid e-power system of 211 HP as the standard model. This configuration combines a 1.5 -liter turbocharged engine with two electric motors, good for a respectable time but unchanged from 0 to 60 mph of about 7 seconds. Instead of added power, Nissan focused on smaller refinements: firmer suspension, recalibrated direction and adjustment to the E-4ORCE all-wheel drive system. These adjustments should make it clearer in the corners, but do not expect it to transform the SUV into a performance machine.
And the United States?
2025 Nissan Rogueniss
For the moment, Nissan has not confirmed if the Rogue will never get an Nismo variant. But even if this is the case, it is difficult to imagine a lot of request for a SUV which looks like a runner but which can barely stand at a Toyota Prius. Compare it to the Nissan Z Nismo, a car that supports its aggressive style with real upgrades under the hood, and the X-Trail Nismo is more like a 16-year-old upbad its first car. The reports suggest that the new generation thug due in 2026, could obtain its own Nismo garnish. If this happens, let’s hope that Nissan gives him a treatment that is up to the badge.
