Computing brand Framework has increased RAM prices for its desktop systems and mainframes in response to rising costs from its suppliers. Compared to the desktop announcement, the 32GB and 64GB options each cost $40 more, but its 128GB variant now costs $460 more. The machines are currently priced at $1,139 for 32GB, $1,639 for 64GB, or $2,459 for 128GB.

Since the company began changing its pricing structure last month, it has committed to remaining transparent with customers about changes to RAM pricing. Framework also said it would cut prices again once the market calms down. Original prices will be honored for all existing pre-orders.

One of the key takeaways from CES 2026 is that RAM will be an expensive commodity this year. The rising costs are largely driven by artificial intelligence projects, such as the rush to build data centers. As a result, buyers who take the modular approach may want to upgrade less expensive components for better specifications without investing increasingly heavily in memory.
