The Justice Department said Wednesday it had received a new tranche of records — more than a million documents — “potentially” related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, requiring additional time to process them before release.

The DOJ said it “may take a few additional weeks” to review the records produced by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

“The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI have informed the Department of Justice that they have discovered more than one million additional documents potentially related to the Jeffrey Epstein case,” the Department of Justice said on its X account Wednesday afternoon.

“The DOJ received these documents from the SDNY and the FBI to review them for release, consistent with the Epstein Transparency Records Act, applicable laws, and court orders. We have attorneys working around the clock to review and make legally required redactions to protect victims, and we will release the documents as soon as possible. Due to the massive volume of documents, this process may take a few more weeks.”

The Justice Department released thousands of pages of Epstein files Friday, the legal deadline for releasing all records, as outlined in the Epstein Records Transparency Act that was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump last month.

After the first batch last week, Justice Department officials said they needed more time to review the records they had and redact text and images related to Epstein’s victims.

It’s a development history. Please check again for updates.
