Dortmund 2-1 Monterrey (Jul 1, 2025) Game Analysis

Borussia Dortmund retained a moving response from Monterrey to finish the quarter-final of the Club World Cup with a 2-1 victory in a 16-round thriller at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Tuesday.
The clinical finishes of Serhou Guirassy in the 14th and 24th minutes put Dortmund at the top at the break, but German Berterame retaliated for Monterrey in the 48th minute and the Mexican club pressure for an equalizer until the final whistle.
Dortmund’s defense, however, held firm, to organize a last meeting with the European champions 15 times Real Madrid in New Jersey on Saturday.
There will be no reunion for the Bellingham family, however, with a yellow card shown in Dortmund Jobe in the 28th minute declaring him outside the confrontation with the real brother Jude.
The first 10 minutes of the confrontation were frantic with many full blood challenges and the first in a series of long -range long -range plans by Nelson Deossa de Monterrey, the best of the first efforts.
Dortmund Strike Duo Guirassy and Karim Adeyemi took over in the 14th minute with a neat exchange of keys by the box by putting the first free to unravel the ball inside the nearby post.
Monterrey left the winger Jesus Corona struck the outside of the post with a crossed blow and another strike from Deossa tested goalkeeper Gregor Kobel a few minutes later, but Dortmund quickly doubled the advance.
Julian Ryerson won possession with a physical challenge and his longball found Adeyemi heading towards the goal, the 23-year-old by holding his race before throwing the ball into a plate so that Guirassy exceeded him in front of goalkeeper Esteban Andrada.
Guirassy should have had a hat-trick before half-time, but rejected the chances of golden garnish provided by Bellingham and Pascal Gross Pass.
Monterrey brought back their fans in the match with the start of the assault to the second half, and quickly reduced the deficit by half.
Corona, a constant threat throughout the match, wrapped a cross to the distant post where Erick Aguirre went up the ball through the goal and Berterame hosted him in the head in front of Kobel.
Monterrey continued to pour forward in search of an equalizer, Corona having a chance saved by Kobel and by exploding another on the bar before Berterame finds the net from an offside position.
A few substitutions of the 70th minute helped Dortmund to find a little more composure and Guirassy had a few half-year-olds to reach his third goal before Monterrey returned to the attack.
Sergio Ramos, who hoped for his own reunion with Real, advanced to help his attackers and touched the outside of the post with a header in the last seconds of normal time, but there should not be the end of a fairy tale for large Spain.
