Drones blasting AC/DC and Scarlett Johansson are helping biologists protect cattle from wolves

Biologists use drones to scare wolves away from cattle. They blow like the AC / DC song “Thunderstruck” and the film scenes to dissuade predators. The USDA has experienced drones and thermal imagery to monitor the wolf movements for at least 2022. Scientists have discovered that human voices scare wolves, even in the middle of hunting. Breeders appreciate help, but fear that wolves get used to drones. Drone flights continue this summer in areas with high levels of conflict between wolves and cattle, including in northeast California.
