Saudi considers NEOM job cuts, relocations amid cost pressures

Pif launched an audit of the project after the departure of Al-Nasr at the end of last year and the brief opening of Sindalah, the island of Luxury $ 4 billion at sea intended to highlight the potential of Neom and to prove to skeptics that the wider project progressed. But after a sumptuous launch party in October, Sindalah was closed and his fate is uncertain.
The Neom moved its headquarters to northwest Saudi Arabia in 2020, forcing the staff to move in what was then – and, with the exception of the people who work there, largely, a distant site and mostly uninhabited. The employees were installed in temporary cabins and provided canteens, gymnasiums and schools 24 hours a day. The comfortable lifestyle pierced viral videos last year, with residents showing the camps, to the Dam of Management.
The company already has Riyadh offices, which should develop within the framework of current proposals.
Work at the start of the stadium on the line, skyscrapers in twin mirror intended to extend over 170 kilometers (106 miles), have been underway for several years, although Focus has evolved towards a smaller part of the towers by 2030. The industrial city and the port known as Oxagon are progressing with one of the largest green hydrogen power plants in the world. Neom also built Trojena, who will host the 2029 Asian winter games.
Mike Cheung, the PIF audit chief, spent more time in Neom to direct an examination of progress and expenses. Neom’s staff concentration in Riyadh is also considered a means of PIF to strengthen surveillance, people said. Al-Nasr said last year that Neom employed around 5,000 full-time employees in 100 countries, including Europeans and Americans. 140,000 other additional entrepreneurs also worked on the site, Al-Nasr said at the time.
Saudi Arabia is also trying to hire a consultant for a “strategic journal” of the line, this week reported the futuristic linear city intended to be in the heart of Neom, Bloomberg reported.
