More than 200 people have fallen ill during a salmonella outbreak in the Netherlands that lasted more than two years.
Between June 2023 and September 2025, there were 227 infections. This is the largest outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis ever reported in the Netherlands. However, as the outbreak likely has diverse sources, new cases continue to be detected.
