Dyson engineer reveals the often-overlooked feature that vacuum cleaners are ‘pointless’ without – and it’s nothing to do with suction

All kinds of factors come into play when you try to understand the best vacuum cleaner to buy, but most people probably assume that strong aspiration is the most important thing on which to focus. A good suction is not not relevant – you need a certain amount of power of power to pull the dust and the debris from the floors. However, it is not all and the end, as I learned when I spoke to the engineer of Dyson Amy Wright.
“Many people assume that if visible dust and dirt are picked up, the problem is solved, but vacuum cleansing is useless in -depth filtration,” said Amy. If your vacuum cleaner has inadequate filters or loose seals, he will eventually release part of the dust and dirt he picked up in the air.
“A good vacuum cleaner is fully sealed and equipped with an advanced filtration system with several steps to ensure that all the dust collected remains trapped inside the vacuum cleaner and that only clean air is expelled in the house,” she continues.
The best Dyson vacuum cleaners in the range combine HEPA filtration with a fully sealed system. A HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. However, it will only capture the particles of the air that crosses it, this is where the sealed system comes into play.
Amy also highlights the importance of a good dust separation system. “The difficulty of engineering a good vacuum cleaner is to guarantee that there is no drop in performance throughout the cleaning process,” she explains. “An effective dust separation system guarantees that filters are not obstructed, so there is no loss of suction that will affect the performance of the vacuum cleaner.”
Brilliant brushes
In addition to a good filtering system, the design of floor heads makes a great difference in the effectiveness of the efficiency of a vacuum with the aspiration power available.
“Dust and animal hair and humans are integrated into carpet and” stick “electrostatically” stubborn “surfaces,” explains Amy. “The agitation is necessary to take off the carpet pile to remove dust and hair in the carpets, while carbon fiber eliminates the static attraction between fine dust and hard floors.”
Dyson’s motorcycle head has rigid nylon hairs to wave the carpet fibers and tackle dust, hair and excavated dirt. It can also be used on hard floors, but if you have a lot of delicate hard floors, it is worth looking for an option with an entirely soft secondary floor head (this is a feature that we are looking for when searching for the best vacuums for the hardwood floor).
“When you vacuum hard floors, we recommend that you select a cleaner head that is soft enough to protect the soil finish, while being effective for pickup,” said Amy. “The Dyson Soft Optical Cleaner heads offers antistatic nylon hair to remove electrostatic attractions between fine dust and hard floors for effective management.”
Something else to watch? Amy highlights the importance of good detail tools. These help transform your vacuum into a complete cleaning tool for all kinds of surfaces. Most vacuum cleaners will be delivered with at least one crevasse tool and a kind of multi-tools, but the best wireless vacuums today go further and include more specific options.
The most unique offer in the Dyson fixing range is probably the hair screw tool – a small motorized cleaning head for furniture, with tapered brushing designed specifically for handling hairs.
“The Dyson hair screw tool stimulates hair and in the tank, which makes it ideal for removing hair from pets, car seats and stairs,” said Amy. “Dyson engineers have delicately modified the precise angle of the hair on the tool, to ensure that the liberation force does not get tangled and has tested the tool on several hair types.”
